Day 12: Sometimes You Need to Rest

Well...

It's been a while.

The last time I wrote was September 13th, and today is September 23rd.

Ten days.

At first, I felt like I needed to explain why I hadn't written.

I thought about the commitment I had made to myself to share this journey.

I thought about the people who may have been reading.

And, if I'm being honest, I felt guilty for stepping away.

But the truth is, I needed to rest.

I went through a period of depression and heaviness that made it difficult to keep moving forward the way I wanted to.

And on top of that, I was feeling discouraged.

I had all of these ideas about this journey, this blog, and where I wanted it to go, but I started questioning myself.

Is this really going somewhere?

Am I doing the right thing?

Will anyone care about what I have to say?

Sometimes when you have a dream, the excitement you felt in the beginning can be replaced by doubt.

And that's where I found myself.

Discouraged.

Heavy.

Tired.

So I stopped.

Not because I gave up.

Because I needed to rest.

My Pause Became Longer Than I Expected

Remember when I wrote about Selah?

A pause.

A moment to stop, breathe, and reflect.

Well, apparently, I needed a longer Selah than I planned.

And I'm learning that sometimes you don't get to decide how long your pause is.

Sometimes your mind, your body, and your spirit need what they need.

I had to give myself permission to rest without feeling like I was falling behind.

And something happened while I was resting.

I began to feel rejuvenated.

The ideas that had felt overwhelming started to feel exciting again.

The discouragement began to lift.

And I started remembering why I wanted to do this in the first place.

I want to talk about self-love.

I want to talk about self-care.

I want to share the things I've learned through my own journey—the difficult things, the beautiful things, and the things I'm still learning today.

I want to remind people that self-love isn't always pretty.

Sometimes it's going to the doctor.

Sometimes it's asking for help.

Sometimes it's forgiving yourself.

Sometimes it's showing up for someone else.

And sometimes...

It's resting.

I think I needed to experience that again before I could keep talking about it.

Because how can I encourage someone else to take care of themselves if I'm not willing to give myself permission to do the same?

So I'm Back

I'm not coming back pretending that I have everything figured out.

I don't.

I'm still on this journey.

But I'm coming back with a renewed sense of purpose.

I believe there are people who need to hear that they are worth taking care of.

People who need permission to slow down.

People who need to know that taking care of themselves isn't selfish.

People who need to know that it's okay to start again.

And maybe someone reading this needed to hear that today.

Maybe you've been feeling discouraged about something you're trying to build.

Maybe you've been questioning whether your dream is worth pursuing.

Maybe you've been carrying a heaviness that no one else can see.

Or maybe you simply need to rest.

If that's you, I want you to know something I've had to remind myself:

A pause doesn't mean the journey is over.

Rest doesn't mean you've failed.

And taking a step back doesn't mean you're moving backward.

Sometimes you need to stop long enough to remember why you started.

That's what happened to me.

And now I'm ready to keep going.

Not because the doubts disappeared.

Not because everything is suddenly perfect.

But because I feel renewed.

And I have something I want to say.

Self-love matters.

Self-care matters.

And I want to keep spreading the word.

So, I'm back.

And this time, I'm giving myself permission to take this journey one day at a time.

No pressure.

No perfection.

Just me, sharing what I'm learning along the way.

And there's still so much more to come.

Tomorrow, I'll continue.

Until then, remember:

Rest when you need to.
Begin again when you're ready.
And never mistake a pause for the end of your journey. ❤️

To be continued...
