Today, I Choose Me
Let's start with today.
Today, I love myself first—right after God.
I know that I am beautifully and wonderfully made, and I finally understand that loving myself isn't selfish. It's necessary.
Once I made the decision to truly love and take care of myself, something began to change. I started healing from things I had carried for years. And as I healed, I became a better version of myself—not just for me, but for the people I love.
I became a better mom, companion, daughter, sister, and aunt.
But getting to this place wasn't easy.
My journey to self-love didn't begin with a spa day, a new skincare routine, or simply deciding to “think positive.”
It began with pain.
The Blessing That Changed Everything
Being a mom is my first love.
At 44 years old, I became pregnant when I truly thought my childbearing years were behind me. I never expected to experience motherhood, and then God blessed me with a beautiful, healthy baby boy.
His name is Nathan.
Nathan would become one of the greatest blessings of my life—and, in many ways, the beginning of my journey toward healing.
But sometimes, the road to a blessing takes you through places you never expected to go.
My pregnancy and delivery were anything but easy.
I developed HELLP syndrome, a serious pregnancy complication that caused me to bleed out.
What should have been one of the happiest moments of my life suddenly became a fight for my life.
The doctors later told me that the birthing room looked like a crime scene.
I remember Nathan being snatched from my arms.
In that moment, everything happened so quickly. I was rushed into the operating room for emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.
Then everything went dark.
When I opened my eyes, I was in the surgical intensive care unit, surrounded by machines and fighting to understand what had just happened.
I had just brought my son into the world.
But I had no idea that this moment would also be the beginning of a completely different journey—the journey back to myself.
And that journey would take me places emotionally that I never expected.
This is only the beginning...
Tomorrow, I'll share what happened after I came home with my beautiful baby boy—and why surviving that experience was only the beginning of my healing.
There is so much more to this story.
If you've ever had a moment in your life that changed you, I hope you'll come back tomorrow and continue this journey with me.
Until then, remember: You are beautifully made. You are worthy of love. And you are worth choosing.
Tomorrow, we continue... ❤️
